Upon the completion of the Situbanda Bridge, Rama and Laksamana accompanied by their monkey army under the leadership of Sugriwa and Hanuman, march to Alengka. In the middle of the journey, Rahwana comes to the palace garden Asoka to bewitch Sita with an illusion of Rama’ head, as though her beloved husband. had been killed. Feeling hopeless and grieving, Sita draws a dagger to stab herself but Trijata stops her. Hanuman informs Rama of the arrival of his army in the land of Alengka. As the battle begins, Rahwana’s son Meganada arrives with his comic servant to challenge Rama and Laksamana. Using his powerful weapon, Meganada ensnares Rama and Laksamana, but soon the mighty bird Garuda arrives to help them. After his release Rama resumes the fight and with the assistance of Laksamana he kills Meganada.
After the death of his son followed by the fall of the old minister Prahasta, Rahwana
orders his brother, the giant Kumbakarna, to the battle. Before leaving the palace,Kumbakarna tells his brother that he will sacrifice himself for nothing less than the defense of his country. As soon as he arrives in the battle ground, the monkey soldiers wildly beat and bite the giant. At first the giant easily kills thousands of them and smeshes the general Sugriwa to the ground. To stop him Rama and Laksmana furiously shoot the giant in his arms and legs. In the end the wounded Kumbakarna falls on the ground dead. With the advice of Wibisana, Rama chants a mantra to release the soul of the heroic giant into heaven.

Meganada ensnares Rama and Laksamana

Using his powerful weapon, Nagapasa, Meganada ensares Rama, Laksamana and their entire army in the grip of hundred and seventy warriors. When Rama quietly invokes the gods for help, the mighty bird Garuda arrives to help Rama. After almost being defeated, Rama resumes the fight and with the assistance of Laksamana, Rama destroys Moganada
The Death of Kumbakarna
The death of Meganada followed by the fall of the old Minister Prahasta forces Rahwana to send his brother, the giant Kumbakarna to the battle where Sugriwa and his army await to destroy the giant. Kumbakarna furiously beats and kills thousands of the monkeys and smashes the General to the ground. With the help of Hamuman, Sugriwa awakes from his unconsciousness and bites Kumbakama’s nose and face. Trance Dance (Sang Hyang Djaran)
The Sanghyang is a God inspired trance dance, the function of which is to protect society against evil forces and epidemics. It can take several forms, here presented is the Sanghyang Djaran. Djaran means ‘horse’. In Java as well as in Bali, the hobby horse is associated with trances and is also seen in the similar ceremony called Kuda Kepang in west Java The horse rider” is lulled into trance by the repetitive sounds of the gamelan suara (voice music) after which, he is able to walk over hot embers via the dynamic sounds and his trance state.
